Advising Information

Academic advising helps you understand and complete your major and minor degree requirements. It also helps you to develop goals in conjunction with your academic course of study. When you take advantage of advising, you are more likely to be successful in planning your professional career.

In the College of Fine Arts, each school has a faculty or professional advisor which students are required to meet with at least once a semester. Faculty members throughout the College also serve as mentors, assisting students with information about career opportunities or advice about graduate schools. This advising model allows you to receive highly personalized guidance on a wide array of topics pertaining to your major course of study.

The University has established guidelines regarding academic policies and procedures, your rights and responsibilities, and your degree requirements. You are responsible for your own academic progress and need to become familiar with UA policies.

In the Dean's Office, the Office of Academic Student Services ensures a consistent application of academic advising policies and procedures as well as acts as a College-wide resource on academic progress issues, such as student admissions and recruitment, academic honors, academic probation, and graduation.
