For our inaugural AIAR Speakers’ Series event, Molly Joyce will share artistic works focusing on disability as a creative source.
This interest stems from her experience acquiring a disability, and has led her musical practice to greater social, physical, and visual considerations. Works range from narratively-driven pieces interrogating loss of mobility, collaborations with collegial disabled artists, and interview projects featuring the voices and viewpoints of disabled interviewees.
She has been deemed one of the “most versatile, prolific and intriguing composers working under the vast new-music dome” by The Washington Post.
