What do two wanna-be-spy siblings, an extreme commitment-phobe, condiments in love, the game LIFE, a bumbling pair of pranksters, a sore loser, a father facing his mortality, two bickering brothers, a tale of love, and ants in the Biosphere have in common?
They are all part of Magic Hour, a free screening of short fiction films made by students in the University of Arizona’s School of Theatre, Film and Television and they will all premiere at The Loft Cinema on May 10 at 7pm.
Screening alongside these new short films will be Who put these ants in my Biosphere?, a film by students in the School of Art. The film is the result of a Research, Innovation, and Impact Grant titled “Science in Motion” and organized by Aaron Bugaj and Ellen Mcmahon with Kevin Bonine, Biosphere 2 and Arizona Institutes for Resilience. Each student contributed 10 seconds of animation focusing on either moss, coral, agrivoltaics, or resilience from the vantage point of an ant inhabiting Biosphere 2.
The screening will be followed by a short Q&A with the filmmakers.
