The University of Arizona School of Dance welcomed back alumna, Alex Yonkovich (BFA ’15, Dance), as a guest teacher for a two–week visit.
Yonkovich shared her reflections on her time back on campus.
“Being back on campus even for this brief time was an incredible reflection on my own time at U of A as well as an outlook on how far I have come,” she said. “I loved being able to give back to a space that gave so much confidence, artistry, and perspective to me.”

- Alumni Stories: Alex Yonkovich
With a career spanning across the dance industry, Yonkovich has made her mark as a performer, choreographer, and educator. She has performed as a full–time ensemble dancer and soloist in The Beatles LOVE by Cirque Du Soleil, where she assumed dance captain and artist coach. In addition, Yonkovich has performed with Hans Zimmer and Jewel, as well as in several events presented by Cirque Du Soleil. Her experiences also include working with Walk The Moon, Paris Jackson, The Struts, Lainey Wilson, Let’s Make A Deal, Dancing with the Stars: Showstoppers, Burger King, & Target.
“I was reminded of the support that is offered by both your peers as well as the faculty all wanting each dancer to be their best and discover their voice,” Yonkovich said. “Lucky does not even begin to describe how it feels to teach these incredible students and choreograph with the influence that the different aspects of the industry have taught me.”
School Director Duane Cyrus appreciates Yonkovich’s influence with today’s dancers.
“We are grateful for Alex’s visit and her continued dedication to her craft. We are inspired by her passion for dance and can’t wait to see the growth and success she will continue to achieve.”
