Integración Plástica: Architectural Mosaics in Mid-20th Century Mexico City with Dr. Stacie Widdifield, professor of Art History at the School of Art.

Artists such as Diego Rivera, Juan O’Gorman and José Chávez Morado designed enormous exterior mosaics for major public and private buildings in mid-20th century Mexico City.

During this virtual Members’ Monday Art Talk, Dr. Widdifield will look at these mosaics in the context of integración plástica – a movement proposing to revolutionize the architecture of the great urban renewal projects of the period.

We will consider how these works relate to the mural movement more broadly and to the needs of modern Mexico City.
