OUTSIDE THE NETWORK* is an art object installation presented as a pair of dixie cups set to emulate the paper cup game of telephone. Whimsical in nature, anonymous and intimate, this project is meant to disrupt the university’s historical ritual of delegating student camaraderie to athletics spheres and socioeconomic chambers. Is it possible to facilitate a conversation of listening and responding between 40,000 students without having to belong? Yes. In return, participants create a singular stream of university consciousness.
