The School of Art’s Art & Visual Culture Education program will host the Art Education Research Institute’s annual national symposium Oct. 19-21.
The Art Education Research Institute (AERI) supports critical, systematic, empirical, and theoretical research and scholarship. That research addresses key intellectual and practical issues in the field of art education. AERI seeks to promote a broad range of rigorous research practices and methodologies drawn from the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The goal is to improve inquiry related to teaching and learning in and through the visual arts.
School of Art Professor Ryan Shin is AERI’s program director. SOA faculty members Shivani Bhalla, Kate Collins, Carissa DiCindio and Amy Kraehe will be among the panelists and discussants along with School of Art PhD students Eli Burke, Ling-Yu Chou, Jenna Green, Nupur Sachdeva and Rachel Zollinger; and PhD alums Georgina Badoni, Shana Cinquemani, Kendall Crabbe, Elizabeth Garber and Andrew Tegarden.
School of Art Director Colin Blakely and College of Fine Arts Dean Andrew Schulz will be part of the welcome on Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
The symposium will take place on campus at the Environment and Natural Resources 2 Building, 1064 E. Lowell St.
