University of Arizona Opera Theater presents  Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell and Nahum Tate (1688).

Can Dido’s love for Aeneas prevail against a wicked sorceress determined to ruin their happiness?  The opera is based on Virgil’s story of the Trojan Aeneas and his beloved Dido, Queen of Carthage.

“Join students from the Voice and Opera Theater department, for one of the greatest English operas ever written,” says Opera Theater Director Cynthia Stokes. “Dido and Aeneas is an excellent opera for first-time attendees and a favorite of opera lovers.”

Opera Theater of the School of Music is an artistic destination for adventurous opera audiences; meet the opera singers of tomorrow; experience opera with sets, costumes, lighting, and a live orchestra; presented with supertitles above the stage.
