Tucson native Devon Sanner is a lifelong lover of food and the human connections we create by making and sharing food. Since early childhood, he was enthralled by the Friday night ritual of making homemade pizza with his father and brother. With a perpetually curious mind and an adventurous palate, Devon has always delighted in exploring culture through cuisine, from menudo to manicotti to ma po tofu.
Together with his business partner and Gastronomic Union of Tucson (GUT) cofounder, Mat Cable, Devon is opening his new restaurant, Zio Peppe, at 6502 E. Tanque Verde Rd. in mid-April. With hearth-fired pizzas and house-made pastas as the centerpiece of the menu, Zio Peppe will also celebrate the culinary heritage that has made Tucson a UNESCO World City of Gastronomy. With an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and regional influences, Zio Peppe will showcase the synthesis of cultures and community that define Tucson terroir.
During IN THE KITCHEN, Devon will take you through the preparation of Zio Peppe’s innovative fare, including lasagne sonorense, masa polenta, and cavolo alla Tucsona, all while focusing a lens on Tucson’s culinary heritage and Renaissance. Order this amazing dinner for take-out by March 30th for an April 1st pick up at Zio Peppe, and enjoy at home while watching the magic behind the meal. 100% of the proceeds from IN THE KITCHEN go directly to the chef/restaurant.
