School of Dance

The School of Dance announces spring 2022 slate of performances that audiences can enjoy at a discounted price with a spring package deal. Individual tickets are on sale Jan. 4.

“We are thrilled to be back in person this spring with an incredible season up ahead,” said Tammy Dyke-Compton, interim artistic director at the School of Dance. 

‘Our audiences will have the opportunity to feel, see, and hear live dance again with three programs planned. Dance is in the AirSpring Collection and Emerge: Student Spotlight. A highlight of the season will certainly be Frank Chavez’s Habaneros where we get to experience a taste of the vibrant Cuban culture. We can’t wait to see all of you in our audience!”

Dance Is in The Air 
Feb. 23-27

Love is drifting by on the breeze at UA Dance with Dance is in the Air. Tamara Dyke-Compton’s Pasadena celebrates friendship and togetherness with the music of The Beach Boys. Sam Watson will present his crowd-favorite Punctuations.!?, a light-hearted piece with music by Grammy Award winners Dave Grusin and Lee Ritenour. Finally, rise from the ashes with Hayley Meier’s The Phoenix

Spring Collection 
April 20-24, April 28-May 1

The UA Dance performance season culminates with Spring Collection, a lively mix of dance featuring works by its illustrious faculty, and a masterwork by Frank Chaves. In Habaneras, the Music of Cuba, Chaves presents a tribute to his native Cuba, inspired by and dedicated to his father. Habaneras is a vibrant full-company piece that celebrates Cuba’s most popular composers. 

Emerge: Student Spotlight 
April 21-24, April 27-30

The dancers take the lead as they craft an exciting evening of student-created works that are sure to lift your spirits as UA Dance presents Emerge. Where energy meets creativity, amazing things happen!
