Everton Maia got certified in the video game sfa/music software, Wwise®, thanks to support from the College of Fine Arts Medici Circle.
Everton (MM ’22, Guitar Performance) is currently a doctoral candidate in the Bolton Guitar Studies program. He spent intensive preparation during the summer taking all the required certifications to work with audio for video games using Wwise® platforms.
“As a music composer and performer, this certification opens doors for different areas in which I can grow professionally. It also gave me an experience implementing sounds and music compositions into real games throughout the certification giving me confidence to use my knowledge in real professional situations.”
Students: Become a Medici Scholar. | Supporters: Join the Medici Circle.
Everton is currently pursuing his DMA degree in guitar performance with minors in jazz studies and music composition. He feels it’s important to be able to compose and performer, like the great composer/performers of the past: Liszt, Paganini, Chopin, Debussy, Bach and others.
“The idea that performance is separated from composition is modern and rather recent. I believe that a complete musician should be able to perform, compose and improvise at a decent level and video game music/sound design is a field in which I can use my knowledge as a musician, like film or theater scoring.”
You might be wondering, “Is Everton a gamer?”
“Yes, I’m a gamer, not a professional, or even a good one, but I grew up playing video games. My current favorite games are Counter Strike, No Man’s Sky, FIFA, and Hollow Knight.”
Medici Circle Appreciation
“My deepest gratitude goes to Sylvia and Herbert Burton, the generous donors who made this project possible, and to all of the donors from the Medici Scholars program who helped students realize their projects and dreams during this summer.”
Medici Circle support allows talented artists and scholars like Everton to pursue an educational summer project beyond the classroom.
