Medici Mondays: Ling-Yu Chou
“My interest in East Asian ink painting stems from its profound emphasis on the interconnectedness of all things. A concept beautifully captured through the flowing energy of “Qi” in Taoist philosophy,” Chou said. “I appreciate how this art form embodies the fluid state of living, emotion, and vitality, which resonates deeply with my educational experiences and artistic explorations.
“What I find most compelling about my East Asian ink painting is its capacity to bridge diverse cultural perspectives and challenge traditional Eurocentric views. It encourages an inclusive appreciation of art that values diverse viewpoints and fosters a deeper connection to both the natural world and one’s own subjectivity.”
This experience provided invaluable insights into the “integration of diverse cultural art forms, enhanced my understanding of social justice through art education, and developed meaningful connections with fellow educators and scholars dedicated to art education.”
